1. Where are ascomi’s servers based?

   The servers are located in the BlueSquare Datacentre. This is based in Maidenhead, Berkshire and is a well established datacentre with a direct link straight to the London Internet Exchange.

2. What sort of servers are they?

   They are dual Intel Quad Core Xeon processor based with up to 1GB RAM on demand. They are equipped with a 160GB SATA hard disk and run Linux CentOS and cPanel.

3. Do you have an uptime guarantee?

   Yes we do - it’s 99%.

4. How secure are the servers?

   Our servers are updated with all the latest security patches as soon as they become available.

5. How are the servers connected to the internet?

   Because speed and response times are crucially important, all our network hardware is of the highest quality, using the best manufacturers in each field. The servers are located in the BlueSquare Datacentre in Maidenhead, England. A 20GBit resilient Ethernet ring links BlueSquare to the London Internet Exchange. This system is provided with a 50ms self-healing capacity for further resilience.

6. What is the load like on the servers?
   

   19:13:43 up 21 days, 7:09, 0 users, load average: 0.01, 0.01, 0.00
   The load average is how much “load” is on the server although this is not the only indication of how much is on, its a quick way of showing you the status of a few machines.

8. I have a website but I don’t have the time/knowledge/inclination to maintain it. Can you help me?

   We know that one of the most important aspects of a website is keeping it up-to-date. That’s why we offer a Website Management option.

9. I don’t want a website, I just want to use my domain name for email. Can you help me?

   We do offer email only accounts. Take a look at our prices. If you are planning on receiving large files through your email, you may wish to consider a website hosting account as the increased disk space can be used for your POP email inbox.

10. I get a lot of spam - can you help?
    I do not want my emails filtered for spam - is this possible?

    We use a variety of sophisticated methods for detecting and refusing spam before it ends up clogging your inbox. This is done using the highly acclaimed ASSP email filters. This is well reported to have a very high detection rate for spam, whilst at the same time keeping false-positives at almost zero.
